Festivales por Mes

Enero: Celebración de los Reyes Magos. Desfiles en todo el país.

Febrero-Marzo: Carnaval (a veces en febrero, a veces en marzo según año). MUST SEE. Disfraces, baile, desfiles. La mejor fiesta del año.

Julio: Fiesta de Merengue (en Santo Domingo). Festival internacional de música y danza.

Octubre: Festival de Bachata (en distintos lugares). Conciertos, competencias, bachata en vivo por toda la isla. Perfecto si vienes a bailar.

Diciembre: Navidad dominicana. Música, decoraciones, ambiente festivo. Menos "occidental", más auténtico que en otros países.

Nuestra Recomendación: Octubre

Nuestro retiro se realiza en octubre (Oct 17-27, 2026). Es IDEAL porque:

Planificación Práctica

Vuelo: Llega 1-2 días antes para aclimatarte. Nosotros arrangamos traslado desde el aeropuerto.

Durante retiro: 10 días de baile, cultura, aventura.

Después: Quédate unos días extras si quieres explorar más.

Qué Llevar Según Época

Octubre-Abril: Ropa ligera, pero trae una chamarra ligera para tardes frescas.

Mayo-Septiembre: Capa adicional contra lluvia. Más bloqueador solar.

Festivales Locales en Cabarete

Además de festivales nacionales, Cabarete tiene eventos locales regulares. Mercados nocturnos, conciertos en playas, competencias deportivas. Siempre hay algo.

Pro Tip: Combina Festivales

Si viajas en Carnaval (febrero), extiende tu viaje para incluir días de fiesta. Si vienes en octubre, asiste a conciertos del Festival de Bachata después de nuestro retiro.

Consideraciones de Clima

Huracanes: Temporada oficial es junio-noviembre, pero son raros en la costa norte (donde está Cabarete). Aún así, octubre es generalmente seguro.

Documentos y Visas

Ciudadanos de muchos países pueden entrar sin visa por 30 días. Verifica con tu embajada. Para estadías más largas, necesitas solicitar extensión.

Best Time to Travel

October–April: The sweet spot. Less rain, no extreme heat, temperatures hovering around 25–28°C. This is when the Dominican Republic is at its most comfortable and inviting.

May–September: Low season. Fewer tourists, lower prices — but also more rain and more intense heat. Perfectly viable if you plan around the weather.

Festivals by Month

January: Día de los Reyes Magos — Three Kings Day. Parades roll through towns across the country in a celebration that feels more joyful than Christmas.

February–March: Carnaval. The date shifts year to year, but the energy never does. MUST SEE. Elaborate costumes, dancing, street parades — the biggest party of the Dominican year.

July: Festival del Merengue in Santo Domingo. An international showcase of music and dance, with stages across the capital city.

October: Bachata Festival, celebrated across the island. Concerts, competitions, and live bachata everywhere. If you're coming to dance, this is your month.

December: Dominican Christmas. Music, lights, and a festive energy that's distinctly Caribbean — warmer, louder, and more communal than most Western versions.

After: Consider staying a few extra days to explore more — there's always more to discover.

What to Pack by Season

October–April: Light clothing is your wardrobe. Bring one light layer for cooler evenings — nothing heavy.

May–September: Add a rain layer and extra sunscreen. The heat is real, and so are the afternoon showers.

Local Events in Cabarete

Beyond the national festivals, Cabarete has its own rhythm of local events: night markets, beach concerts, kitesurf competitions. Something is always happening. Ask around when you arrive and you'll find it.

Pro Tip: Stack Your Festivals

Traveling during Carnaval in February? Extend your trip a few days to soak up the street celebrations. Coming in October? Plan to attend a bachata concert or two after the retreat ends — you'll have the ears and the feet for it.

A Note on Weather and Hurricanes

Hurricane season: Officially June through November, but the north coast (where Cabarete sits) is historically well-protected by the Cordillera Septentrional mountain range. October is generally safe and sunny.

Documents and Visas

Citizens of most countries can enter the Dominican Republic visa-free for up to 30 days. Check with your embassy or consulate to confirm. For longer stays, you'll need to request an extension in-country.

Was du je nach Jahreszeit einpackst

Oktober–April: Leichte Kleidung ist dein Kleiderschrank. Bring eine leichte Schicht für kühlere Abende — nichts Schweres.

Mai–September: Füg eine Regenschicht und extra Sonnencreme hinzu. Die Hitze ist real, und so sind die Nachmittagsschauer.

Lokale Events in Cabarete

Jenseits der nationalen Festivals hat Cabarete seinen eigenen Rhythmus lokaler Events: Nachtmärkte, Strandkonzerte, Kitesurfwettbewerbe. Es ist immer etwas los. Frag herum, wenn du ankommst, und du wirst es finden.

Pro-Tipp: Festivals kombinieren

Reist du während des Carnavals im Februar? Verlänger deine Reise um ein paar Tage, um die Straßenfeiern aufzusaugen. Kommst du im Oktober? Plan, nach Ende des Retreats ein oder zwei bachata-Konzerte zu besuchen — du wirst die Ohren und die Füße dafür haben.

Ein Hinweis zu Wetter und Hurrikanen

Hurrikansaison: Offiziell Juni bis November, aber die Nordküste (wo Cabarete liegt) ist historisch gut geschützt durch die Gebirgskette der Cordillera Septentrional. Oktober ist in der Regel sicher und sonnig.

Dokumente und Visa
